Who & why?
My name is Daniel Kernell, a retired Swedish/Dutch neuroscientist. born in Sweden (Stockholm), during many years working in the Netherlands and in the happy possession of two passports. At present, I am living, together with my wife, in the pleasant Dutch city of Groningen. Besides, we also have a foothold in the southern Swedish province of Småland. The contents of my web-site might be of interest for people we know in either one of our two countries (and possibly for others as well). Instead of writing it all in one of my two daily and mutually rather ununderstandable languages, English has been chosen as a more generally intelligible single-language alternative
Photographs
Since the 1970’s I am an “enthusiast” amateur photographer, and since 1998 f(also) using digital techniques. My interest in photography concerns both its aesthetic / expressive and its recording / documentary roles. Accordingly, on this web-site I have arranged the pictures in two groups:-
– Surroundings: photographs with an “independent” existence, not necessarily employed for illustrating something else.
– Travels: for each region / country a brief series of photographs telling something about the various places and (if relevant) their historical backgrounds.
